DIRECTV will be back on the rich, red clay of the 126th Roland-Garros French Open starting this Sunday, May 22, with seven separate channels dedicated to live action, as well as one women’s and one men’s semifinal (June 2-3) and both women’s and men’s tournament finals (June 4-5) produced by NBC Sports in 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD).
The 2022 DIRECTV “Roland-Garros Experience” is anchored by a mosaic channel (Ch. 901) featuring simultaneous serves and volleys, complemented by separate channels (Ch. 902–907) dedicated to individual match play on the Phillipe Chartier, Suzanne Lenglen and Simone Matthieu courts located outside Paris.
The “Experience” also boasts several on-demand enhancements to enable Grand Slam fans to call up up-to-the-minute match results; an onscreen ticker with real-time scores; the updated women’s and men’s tournament draw; individual player bios and recent results, among still other personalized features.
The recognized industry sports leader since its inception in 1994, DIRECTV will once again offer similar treatments to the upcoming Wimbledon ( June 29-July 3 ) and U.S. Open (Aug. 29-Sept. 4) tournaments later this summer.
What is the French Open?
The French Open has been around since the 19th century and is also referred to as Roland-Garros, in reference to the host venue known for its clay courts. The French Open is the second of four Grand Slam tournaments, preceded by the Australian Open and followed by Wimbledon and the U.S. Open.
How to Watch
The “Roland-Garros Experience” mosaic channel will provide an aggregated view into seven matches at the same time. For a closer look at an individual game, viewers can tune into the correlating channel for a close-up view. Beyond the 4K coverage, the Tennis Channel will also be providing French Open content from another angle.
